Aadat-Jigar-Hisaab (Habit-temprament-calculation)
Old scholars who are not specialized in reading and writing, while talking recite some words, which the students of music are eager to know the meaning, habit in those words, the liver and the calculation, which are mentioned here.
Ancient virtuous singers say that at least one of the first two things should be ‘habit, liver and calculation’ in the singer, otherwise he will not be able to achieve success in his music practice. The third feature is ‘accounting’, usually related to singing and playing of instruments whose explanation cannot be mentioned.
Habit/Aadat:
Having the ability to do a good amount of Riyaaz / practice with gaining the ability to take different types of taans is called ‘habit’. The music-lover who regularly practices daily, seriousness and tone in his accent are born. As long as his singing habit continues, he will continue to get success. In other words, the ‘habit’ of that musician is not there.
Jigar:
In Ayurveda, ‘liver’ is called the part of the body that makes up the blood, but in the musician’s dictionary, it means ‘organ – nature’, meaning musical temperament. Which Swara will increase the beauty of the raga . All these types of knowledge come under ‘organ-nature’, It is called JIGAR in the language of musicians.
Calculation/Hisaab:
It is under the calculation to know the classical rules of raga and tala. Many uneducated singers or tabloids work according to the volumes – though not knowing the book, but when in conversation with virtuous people talking about volumes or classical rules, they flick their armpits. A few singers know how to produce big taans and sync them on ‘Sam’, but that pity illiterate man seemed to be zero at last.
